European pension funds make direct equity investments in wind farms
According to Reuters, several European pension funds have begun to make billion dollar allocations to direct equity investments in wind farms — with expected returns of 300 to 500 basis points above government bonds. Allianz of Germany has invested more than $1.59 billion in renewables since 2005. Other pension fund and institutional investors adopting the same strategy include Dutch pension group PGGM and Danish pension providers PensionDanmark and PKA. Source: Reuters
