According to Reuters, several European pension funds have begun to make billion dollar allocations to direct equity investments in wind farms — with expected returns of 300 to 500 basis points above government bonds. Allianz of Germany has invested more than $1.59 billion in renewables since 2005. Other pension fund and institutional investors adopting the same strategy include Dutch pension group PGGM and Danish pension providers PensionDanmark and PKA. Source: Reuters
